Hawaii Relaxing

The plan originally was to go to hawaii, learn to surf (at least as much as you can in a week of solid waves) and do a week or so on Kaui sea kayaking the famous coast. Unfortunately, I got sucked into a week of relaxation to destress from the job. I did almost none of those things.

I took a few photos but not many.

I did work out every day. I did run every day.

I did go to a different local beach every day. I forget which one this one. They were all rediculously beautiful.

I did eat at all the local famous spots. I ate the most delicious shave ice at Matsumoto's Shave Ice. At that's saying something when you're spent time in NYC during the summer!

I ate the famous shrimp scampi at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. Yeah... it was banging. And right behind the truck I got some roasted corn on the cob on a stick with butter and cheese... Oh my.

And Buzz's Steakhouse. Yeah... it was good.

And Jameson's by the Sea. the capers and macadamian nut covered fish was better than I expected.

I climbed to the top of Diamond Head...

...and to the top of the Koko Head Crater Railway trail. AKA Natures Stairmaster. Of course it started raining as soon as I wanted to take some pictures at the top and my camera phone was fogged up.

I stopped at scenic points along roads...

...and just drove by them in my rental.

I went to the Byodo-In Temple. Words don't describe.

and then I sat by the pool and slept and ate and did it again! :-)

Good trip if I do say so myself.

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."    — Robert A. Heinlein
